Guidelines for common cleaning and aseptic cleaning


CLEANING: -

(A) Cleaning of walls: - All the floor tiles are clean with Disinfectant twice a day.

(B) Cleaning of doors: -   Every month all the doors inside the laboratory specially wooden doors are cleaned with 1% Hypo Chlorite. Inside the laboratory glass doors are cleaned with water with disinfectant and tissue paper.

(C) Dusting of Equipment: - All the equipments (specially outer and upper side of equipment) are cleaned daily in the morning.

(D)  Change of U. V. lights: - Every 6 months change all the 16 U. V. lights (specially in to the hoods and   Rooms also).

(E) Relating to staff: -           

§  Before entering in the lab. At morning all lab. Staffs members to wash their hands with antiseptic soap or solution.

§  Procedure and instructions for washing hand is displayed on the wall near the sink.

§  Before starting any work inside the lab. All staff members must be wearing apron, which are kept inside the working area like sample processing room, Typing room, Cell culture room etc.

§  Then once again wash the hands properly, dry with towel and then touch any material like cell culture tubes or flasks.

§  Before starting the work in the hood of any working area like Sample processing room, Inoculation and isolation, cell culture room and Typing and confirmation room, every responsible person 

§  must be wear cap and mask properly. Also prepare all the materials which are required during the work, must be clean with disinfectant and then put in to the hood.

§  Then wear gloves, which is suitable for your hands like medium or small gloves.

§  Take 1% Hypo Chlorite swab, clean the gloves properly, and wait for some time, when gloves are completely dry then start the work.

§  After finishing the work one person should remove the gloves discarding pan (with 1% Hypo chlorite ) which kept in the hood.  .

§  Then keep all-respective material like PT or Confirmation plate put in to the CO2 incubator or in Cell culture technique, after changing and preparing all the tubes and flasks are keep  in to the standard incubators.

§  Then another person wearing gloves cleans the hood with 1% Hypochlorite properly.

§  Then remove gloves and discard it in discarding pan having 1% sodium hypochlorite and cover the pan properly with aluminum foil. Send this pan for autoclaving. Once the discarding pan is taken outside from the hood do not open it and do not keep it again into the hood.

§  Then close the hood, switch on U.V. light for at least 10 to 15 min. before starting any other work.

§  After completion of work wash hands properly with antiseptic soap or solution.

         Once in a week all apron and caps are decontaminate by 1% sodium Hypochlorite for 15 min. & then wash it.
